Lecture by Manos Panou, Alumnus and Advisory Board Member of the Department, to our students

As part of the course “Organization and Management of Shipping Companies,” we had the pleasure of hosting Manos Panou, Commercial Director at TMS Cardiff Gas Ltd., who is both an alumnus and a member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Piraeus.

The students who attended the lecture had the firsthand opportunity to learn about the critical role of negotiations and communication, and the importance of speed in decision-making within the complex and demanding field of commercial management in a shipping enterprise. They also had the opportunity to participate in a highly dynamic business game, where teams of students assumed the roles of: Charterer, Shipbroker, Shipowner.

Based on a scenario provided by the speaker, the teams conducted negotiations and successfully reached an agreement to close a charter party. Warm thanks to Manos Panou for readily accepting our invitation, as well as for the enthusiasm and valuable knowledge he shared with the students of our Department.
