Educational visit to the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA)

As part of the course “Environmental Port Management”, a visit of students to the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) took place on Wednesday, May 20. The aim of the visit was to allow students to come into direct contact with the port and to be informed about the environmental initiatives that are currently being implemented, as well as about future actions that are planned but have not yet been implemented. 

The visit gave the students the opportunity to become familiar with techniques and practices such as waste management, marine pollution monitoring, actions for air quality and the implementation of energy efficiency measures, as well as to be informed about future cooperation and research projects. Warm thanks to Ms. Evgenia Lagadinou, Environmental Officer, for the excellent presentation of the environmental strategies and initiatives of the PPA and Mr. Antonis Kontopidis, Public Relations Sector Officer, for the detailed overview of the development of the organization and the overall activities of the port. 

We warmly thank the PPA for the excellent hospitality, as well as its representatives for the rich and constructive information they provided to our students.
