Educational Visit to the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA)

On Thursday, April 11th, the second year students of the Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Piraeus, within the framework of their “Environmental Port Management” course, conducted an exceptionally organized visit to the facilities of the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA), accompanied by Assistant Professor Anastasia Christodoulou.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to be briefed by Mr. Nektarios Demenopoulos, the Public Relations Manager of the PPA, about the economic development of the port and its impact on the local and national economy. Subsequently, Ms. Chrysanthi Kontogiorgi, Deputy Manager of the Property and Environment Department of the PPA, focused on the policies and initiatives that the organization is developing to improve its environmental management, emphasizing the value of sustainable development.

This visit to the PPA offered a unique opportunity for the students to closely examine the real challenges and solutions in the field of port environmental management. We warmly thank the PPA for the excellent hospitality and its representatives for the rich and constructive information provided to our students.
