ICS Exemptions


The Department of Maritime Studies has achieved exam exemptions for its BSc and MSc graduates from the ICS Professional Qualifying Examinations.

The graduates of the BSc in Maritime Studies and of the MSc in Shipping are exempted from the exams of the courses

  • Introduction to Shipping
  • Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade
  • Marine Insurance

The graduates of the MSc in Shipping Management are exempted from the exams of the courses

  • Introduction to Shipping
  • Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade
  • Shipping Finance OR Marine Insurance

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) was founded in 1911.  It is the only internationally recognised professional body in the commercial maritime arena and it represents shipbrokers, ship managers, and agents throughout the world. It provides maritime professional training and education to the shipping industry and a shipping qualification that is recognised worldwide. The ICS Professional Qualifying Examinations lead to the accreditation of ICS Membership.
