MSc in Shipping and MSc in Sustainability and Quality in Marine Industry Inauguration Ceremony

On Monday, September 20, 2021, the inauguration ceremony of the graduates of the Masters of Science in “Shipping” and “Sustainability and Quality in Marine Industry”, of the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus, was held, in the presence of the political leadership of Hellenic Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, regional and local maritime authorities.

During his greeting, in the context of the ceremony which took place at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Ioannis Plakiotakis expressed his joy for his presence at the inauguration of the graduates characterizing the Department of Maritime Studies as one of the most historic and important in the country, as it is connected to the real Economy and the needs of Shipping. Graduates of the Department enjoy a high rate of absorption and employment by companies in the Shipping Industry.

The MSc in Shipping Director Professor Maria Boile thanked the Official Guests for their presence and participation in the Graduation Ceremony and noted that the Department of Maritime Studies will continue its close cooperation with the representatives of the Maritime Market, aiming that the training of postgraduate students meets the high standards of executives that the Maritime Market needs, but also that the graduates continue to have high prospects in this important work field.

At the event, the following esteemed guests successively greeted the Graduates, the Rector of the University of Piraeus Prof. Angelos Kotios, the Vice-President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping Giorgos Alexandratos, the Dean of the School of Maritime and Industrial Studies Prof. Angelos Pantouvakis, the Deputy President of the Department of Maritime Studies Prof. Efstratios Papadimitriou, the Director of the MSc in “Sustainability and Quality in Marine Industry” Prof. Fani Sakellariadou and the Director of the MSc in “Shipping” Prof. Maria Boile.

The Ceremony was honored with their presence by the Secretary General of Ports Port Policy and Maritime Investments Mr. Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, the Deputy Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Dimitris Karydis, the President of the International Maritime Union in Greece Mr. Antonis Venieris, the President of WISTA Hellas Ms. Elpi Petraki, the CEO of Arcadia Shipmanagement Co. Ltd. Capt. Dimitris Mattheou (Lecturer at the MSc in Shipping), the Managing Director of OnLine Data SA (Lecturer at the MSc in Shipping) Mr. Nikolaos Rodopoulos, the Honorary President of HSA (Lecturer at the MSc in Shipping) Mr. Nikolaos Penderoudakis, and the Managing Director of Navigator Shipping Consultants Ltd. Ms. Danae Bezantakou.

The ceremony met all the legal requirements to limit the spread of CoVID-19.
