Stefanos Chatzinikolaou is an Assistant Professor in Ship Technology at the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus, Greece. He is a graduate of the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, where he also concluded his PhD studies in sustainable maritime transport systems. For over two decades he has served the maritime industry from managing positions in research, consulting engineering, and professional maritime training. He has an extensive background in academic, EU funded, and industrial research projects in the fields of ship energy efficiency, ship environmental performance, zero carbon shipping, maritime safety, and human factors.
