Stefanos Chatzinikolaou is Assistant Professor in the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus, Greece. He is a graduate of the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, where he also concluded his PhD studies. He has served the maritime industry from managing positions in research, consulting engineering, and professional maritime training. He has a background of sixteen years in academic, EU funded, and industrial research projects. His main fields of work and interest are ship energy efficiency and environmental performance, sustainable maritime transport, maritime safety, and human factors.
