Η Δρ. Μαρία Καρακασνάκη είναι Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια στο Τμήμα Ναυτιλιακών Σπουδών με γνωστικό αντικείμενο “Ποιότητα στη Ναυτιλία και τις Μεταφορές”. Είναι απόφοιτος του τμήματος Λογιστικής και Χρηματοοικονομικής του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Έχει ολοκληρώσει τις μεταπτυχιακές της σπουδές στο τμήμα Ναυτιλιακών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς, ενώ έλαβε τον διδακτορικό της τίτλο με ειδίκευση στην Ποιότητα και τη Διοίκηση από το ίδιο τμήμα. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται σε θέματα διοίκησης και ποιότητας, συστημάτων διοίκησης ποιότητας και διοίκησης ανθρώπινου δυναμικού.
