The programme consists of lectures and seminars. Lectures are given by academic professors or a professional or a researcher appointed by the department. Seminars are taught by highly skilled and experienced trainers. Active participation from the students is required.
The MSc thesis is tutored by an academic professor, or a professional or a researcher appointed by the department.
Resident Faculty
Professor Fani Sakellariadou is marine geochemist. She studied chemistry at the Athens University. She holds a Ph.D. in applied marine geochemistry from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College. She has received a Master Diploma in Oceanography from Athens University and a DIC in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College. She served as marine geochemist consultant in Hydrex, a researcher in Hellenic Centre for Marine Sciences and, for more than 10 years, a national expert in climatic changes issues in DG XI, EU. She is a Titular Member and Project Coordinator at Division VI, Chemistry and the Environment of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). She has main years of university teaching and research experience. Her main research interests are in geochemical studies of marine sediments, marine placer deposits, pollutant studies in harbor sediments, sustainable development/management of the coastal zone, environmental impacts of shipping and marine geospatial planning. She has published more than 150 scientific papers and two books.
